Jewellery Care Instructions

Brass is an alloy containing copper so it may dull over time. This is completely natural and can be restored to a beautiful gold shine by polishing with a gold cloth or by rubbing some lemon/ lime juice with some baking soda. Alternately Brasso is a good alternative to a natural polish.

Golden brass, our silver plated items and even sterling silver are all alloys so they have the potential to leave discolouration on the skin (this can also happen to some people with gold, and sterling silver items too). It does not happen to everyone. This is not harmful to the skin and it does not mean the jewellery is poorly made as the metals we use are an alloy with pure copper and washes off easily. Many jewelry companies coat brass in a chemical coat to prevent this from happening, however because of our commitment to health and sustainability we do not do this. It is caused when the metal is exposed to water and other substances like sweat, acidity of the skin and lotions so an easy way to remedy this is to:

  • Apply a coating of nail varnish/polish on the inside of the band which creates a barrier between the skin and the metal. On ear posts this can also help if you are sensitive to brass.

  • Limit the exposure to water and other lotions.

  • Keep your bronze rings and bracelets polished and removing them before exercising, as sweat can make it worse for some people. If you have discoloration and it bothers you, we do recommend purchasing sterling silver instead of bronze.

Silk Clothing

Silk is a natural fibre so as such it takes a little more care while washing. We suggest hand washing your pieces in cold water, alternatively machine washing using a laundry bag on a delicate cycle with a detergent specially formulated for silk and woollen fabric.

Shawls and Throws

These can be machine washed as normal in a cold wash.
